Apical?root apoplastic acidification affects cell wall extensibility in wheat under salinity stress

چکیده

Plant salt tolerance is associated with a high rate of root growth. Although growth governed by cell wall and apoplastic pH, the relationship between these factors in elongation zone under salinity stress remains unclear. Herein, we assess pH- expansin-dependent extensibility, expansin expression salt-sensitive (Yongliang-15) -tolerant (JS-7) cultivars stress. A six-day 80 mM NaCl treatment significantly reduced apical pH both cultivars. Using pH-dependent extensibility experiment, found that, 0 treatment, optimal for loosening was 6.0 salinity-tolerant cultivar 4.6 salinity-sensitive cultivar. Under 5.0 mitigated stiffness caused but promoted stiffening Salinity altered differentially affecting 6.0. TaEXPA8 might be relative to at 5.0, whereas TaEXPA5 These results elucidate expansins zone, important implications enhancing plant

Verticillium longisporum Infection Affects the Leaf Apoplastic Proteome, Metabolome, and Cell Wall Properties in Arabidopsis thaliana

Verticillium longisporum (VL) is one of the most devastating diseases in important oil crops from the family of Brassicaceae. The fungus resides for much time of its life cycle in the extracellular fluid of the vascular system, where it cannot be controlled by conventional fungicides. To obtain insights into the biology of VL-plant interaction in the apoplast, the secretome consisting of the ex...

Aluminum targets elongating cells by reducing cell wall extensibility in wheat roots.

Phytotoxicity of aluminum is characterized by a rapid inhibition of root elongation at micromolar concentrations, however, the mechanisms primarily responsible for this response are not well understood. We investigated the effect of Al on the viscosity and elasticity parameters of root cell wall by a creep-extension analysis in two cultivars of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) differing in Al resis...

Salinity Affects the Timing of Phasic Development in Spring Wheat

Understanding effects of environmental factors on crop phenological development is useful for predicting crop growth stages and scheduling management practices. We evaluated the effect of salinity on the rate of leaf appearance and the duration of critical stages of growth in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in terms of both thermal unit (TU; “C day) and phyllochron intervals. Two hard red spring w...

Xyloglucan endotransglucosylase and cell wall extensibility.

Transgenic tomato hypocotyls with altered levels of an XTH gene were used to study how XET activity could affect the hypocotyl growth and cell wall extensibility. Transgenic hypocotyls showed significant over-expression (line 13) or co-suppression (line 33) of the SlXTH1 in comparison with the wild type, with these results being correlated with the results on specific soluble XET activity, sugg...

Cell wall remodeling under abiotic stress

Plants exposed to abiotic stress respond to unfavorable conditions on multiple levels. One challenge under drought stress is to reduce shoot growth while maintaining root growth, a process requiring differential cell wall synthesis and remodeling. Key players in this process are the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and peroxidases, which initially cross-link phenolic compounds and gly...
